Basic Cable

Hi friends, happy Monday! With the weather cooling down here in Madison, it’s quite literally sweater weather, and who doesn’t love a good cable-knit? When I think of the classic fisherman’s sweater, my mind first jumps to being around five or six at my grandparents house. Whenever I was chilly, I would borrow one of several sweaters my “Ahma” had knitted for either my mom or my aunt when they were little. They were the perfect, cozy, cabled cardigans with pretty brass buttons. Though those are long gone, they are definitely the standard I look to when on the hunt for a new sweater. I personally believe everyone should own a great cable-knit, and this season, there’s so much to choose from. It’s anything but basic cable with punchy colors, or fringe, or colorblocking, cable-knit is cool y’all. You can even incorporate it into your look in the form of leggings or even a poncho, whatever floats your boat. If you live in the Great White North, like me, you’ll definitely be requiring a chunky knit to keep you warm all fall/winter, and cable-knit is the way to go. Check out some of my picks in the list below!

Happy Friday! What better way to celebrate the weekend than with a giveaway, am I right? I’m so excited to finally host a giveaway, and I’m even more pleased to be partnering with Plum Boutique to do it! It’s always great to team up with other small businesses, but especially one located in my college town of Waco, TX. Sic ’em Bears forever. I’m actually jealous of what y’all have the chance to win: a huge Capri Blue candle that smells like actual heaven (tropical fruits & sugared citrus), and some gorgeous stud earrings from Everlasting Joy Jewelry (another Baylor alum business!). Pop on over to my Instagram, which hello, you should already be following, to enter! That’s also where you’ll find the full contest rules and all that fun stuff. Good luck and have a fab weekend y’all!

IT'S SCARF SEASON, Y'ALL

FullSizeRender-1

Scarf: Plum Boutique

Happy first day of FALL! Not to be cliche, but Fall is by far my favorite season. I think every girl ever would agree with that statement, but for me the season is about so much more than pumpkin spice lattes. It’s about clothes, y’all. We finally bid farewell to the sweatiness of summer (maybe that’s just me…) and get to pile on the layers! Ok, so there’s still a couple weeks until the cool weather really sets in, but now is the time to stock up on fall faves, such as scarves. A great scarf, like the one pictured above, is the best way to pull your outfit together…with minimal effort. Leggings, a little sweater (bonus points for a cape), topped with a plaid infinity, and you’re good to go. I love this one, from Plum Boutique in Waco, TX! It’s super cozy, but also thin enough to double loop without looking like you’re wearing a neck brace haha. Plus, the price is most certainly right, at only $28!

Plum recently launched their new website (Plumtique.com) and I’m pretty much obsessed with everything. From apparel, to jewelry, and home accessories, they’ve got you covered. Definitely go check out the site and treat yourself to some goodies. For my Baylor readers (sic ’em!), head to their adorable shop in Spice Village. Also, give them a follow on Instagram for a wonderful feed full of inspiration! Be sure to check back on Friday, as I’ll be hosting a little Plum Boutique giveaway!

I hope everyone is having a great first day of fall, thanks for popping by!

PRODUCT REVIEW: ORIGINS BRUSH CLEANER

FullSizeRender-1
Before-After-brushes
Brushes (top to bottom): 12 | 34

HI! I’m back from my little Philly (and NYC, for a day) adventure. I had the best time exploring both cities with my boyfriend, Mike, but it’s always nice to be back home. Today, I’m reviewing Origins brush cleaner. My mom is almost obsessively clean, and would probably say dirty makeup brushes (/dirty cosmetics in general) are a cardinal sin. Though I grew up with this mentality, I put off washing my brushes. They lose their shape, never dry in a timely fashion, and it’s just kind of a chore. This product, however, makes it SO easy. Spritz some solution onto the brush and simply tissue off the makeup residue. My brushes, though not terribly dirty before, look brand new. They also feel incredibly soft and smell amazing. This is such a wonderful product for maintaining the integrity of your brushes, and I would most certainly recommend it to anyone looking to make this chore easier!

ROCKSBOX

Helloooo and happy September! Not only is it my birthday month, but I’m also heading out to Philly and NYC in a couple weeks for a wedding with my boyfriend! I’m jazzed to get to know his family and also the city of Philadelphia! If y’all have any recommendations on fun spots, shoot me an email. Today, I’m talking about Rocksbox! I first heard about this awesome service a few months ago via Instagram and I was over the moon when they emailed me to partner up. If you don’t already know, Rocksbox is kind of like old-school Netflix, but for designer jewelry. After you take a fun little style assessment, a stylist will send you three handpicked pieces. You have the option to keep one or more (for an insider’s price) or you can wear them around and send ’em back in exchange for a brand new selection! You can do this as many times a month as you want, for just $19. I think this is such an awesome concept, especially for college girls (hello recruitment!). I’m always so hesitant to spend a lot of money on trend or statement pieces, because I just don’t get the wear out of them. God love ya, KScott, but I’ll sink that $200 into a Yurman, thank you very much. Rocksbox basically affords you a rotating jewelry wardrobe featuring brands like Loren Hope, Gorjana, House of Harlow, and yes, Kendra Scott. It’s a fun way to “try before you buy” and even step out of your comfort zone a bit, style wise. It’s risk free shopping, y’all!
I’m not one for subscription boxes, but I’m seriously so obsessed with Rocksbox and you will be too! Click here to get your first month FREE or just enter code 10thandjamesxoxo at checkout!

WEEKLY WISHLIST

Click to Shop!

Hi babes! Back in action with another weekly wishlist, of course. Once again, fall/transitional pieces have taken over. I’ll miss you, summer. It’s actually been sort of chilly the past couple days and I’m getting anxiety for winter. Cue another jacket and cozy knit (men’s) tee for my troubles.

I keep hearing rave reviews about the Beauty Blender and I really want to try it out for myself. Have any of y’all used one? Last night, I spent a considerable amount of time watching Youtube tutorials, so I’m pretty much an expert now (no). It’s probably best I just take the plunge and order it, plus, Amazon has a nice little deal right now ($16!). I’m also in the market for a decent lip pencil. I’ve never worn lip liner before, but with red lipstick and my super fair skin, I can’t really get away without it. Does anyone have a good recommendation? Charlotte Tilbury seems to be the “it” make-up right now, but I really have no idea what I’m doing. Not tryna look like Kylie or anything, so tell me what’s up in the realm of lip pencils.

Recently, I discovered a void in my life (wardrobe) and realized a pretty, ladylike handbag was the only thing that could fill it. Seriously though, I really don’t have a structured, “formal” handbag, dah-ling. When looking for a new bag, I always head towards cavernous totes or little crossbodies, but nothing in between. This Zac Zac Posen bag is what dreams are made of, seriously. It just looks so proper and expensive but it really isn’t too pricey for a bag of it’s size/quality. That said, it’s absolutely still an investment piece. I’m also obsessed with this version, but didn’t feature it above because there’s only one left. Someone snap it up! Tortoiseshell heaven y’all. This similar shopper is on MAJOR sale and would be great for the office!

For fall, I’m renewing my obsession with Del Toro smoking slippers and just how…obnoxious they are? The pair above are obviously very tongue-in-cheek but I think it’s fun and if anything else, a conversation piece. This pair is a tad more reserved, and who doesn’t love a good emoji? Another fall fave on my radar is the classic (read: basic, I’ll own it) Burberry quilted jacket. I picked one up on sale in high school and it’s been on repeat ever since. So yeah, six years later, you could say I want an upgrade, please. This red delivers, so I better start saving haha.

What have you been eyeing lately? I hope you’ve had a great day so far, thanks for stopping by!

WEEKLY WISHLIST

Click to Shop!

Happy Friday! So maybe I should rename this the “biweekly” or “monthly” wishlist, but that just doesn’t have the same ring to it. First on my priority list is a pair of Nike Roshes. I used to be fundamentally opposed to black sneakers (sneakers…? I literally don’t know what to call them…tennis shoes? Everything looks weird typed out), but I’m going to branch out for these babies. I like how Roshes in particular have been adopted by the stylish set and are more often seen dressed up rather than at the gym. I plan to pair them with leggings and a Rails flannel or [if I was edgy] a leather moto jacket. I’m also particularly obsessed with Chanel Eau Vive. Normally, I shy away from Chanel perfumes as they’re too flowery/powdery, but this new scent is really light and citrusy. I’m also dying for this Cupcakes and Cashmere pink coat. It reminds me of Jackie O or Barbie (similar icons, no?), and I think it would be so fun to bring a pop of color to my fall wardrobe. I hope y’all have a fab Friday! I’ll be back tomorrow with a nice little roundup of #SaturdaySales!

LONG HAIR DOES CARE

FullSizeRender

Click to Shop!

Is anyone else obsessed with having long princess hair? The five year old in me loves channelling Tangled. That said, my hair used to be literally tangled. Long hair that’s thick but very fine? Good LORD just the thought of brushing my hair could bring tears to my eyes and even tempted me to bring scissors to my tresses. Then, a couple years back, I discovered this magical brush. I feel like a lot of you have probably heard of the Wet Brush, or seen it at Target, but y’all, I’m here to tell ya to run out the door and buy one right now. If you never want to rip through snarly hair again, here’s the solution. This brush is specifically designed to combat tangled, knotty hair post wash (you can use it on dry hair too)! It literally slides through my hair without any pulling or breakage and I can carry on with my long locks. I feel like I’m hosting an infomercial for this product but I’m seriously obsessed and I think you will be too!
