MY BEST LUXURY FINDS

MY BEST LUXURY FINDS

Lately, I’ve had the best luck. I absolutely love a good treasure hunt, so my mom and I routinely visit a few local consignment stores. I’ve found some incredible pieces that will probably remain in my collection forever. If you’re from the Madison/Middleton area, I highly suggest you visit Simply Savvy, Collector’s Corner, and Passementerie. Those are the places I’ve found most of the items I’m talking about below! So, without further ado, here are my most coveted luxury consignment finds…

Lady Dior Handbag – $1,100

Finding this near pristine, large Lady Dior was a thrill. It was in the back of a dusty, locked cabinet. According to the tag, it had been consigned for a while, apparently unnoticed. My mom offered cash and surprised me with it. It’s from 2005 and in beautiful condition, no scuffs in the black lambskin or scratches on the shiny silver hardware. I’m almost scared to use it, I know the first little “blemish” will break my heart. I sometimes think about selling it (because a handbag probably shouldn’t elicit such an emotional response), but I’ve always loved the Lady Dior. It’s such an iconic bag and I still can’t believe I have it in my collection.

Chanel Flats – $150

My mom spotted these flats during a rather difficult time in my life and they were a fantastic pick-me-up. We had recently put down our 16 year old miniature dachshund, Clara, and joked she sent these my way (edit: is this weird? oh well). For this reason, these black and tan beauts will always be special. I mean, finding Chanel is enough of a day maker, but especially a pair of their famous ballerinas in the right size. They came with the box and dust-bags and everything which was an added bonus.

Gucci Scarf – $3

When I found this scarf and unfurled it to reveal “G U C C I,” I was ecstatic. When I saw the price, I basically blacked out. Kidding. Well, maybe not. Upon inspecting the label, edges, etc, I realized it was marked a mere $3. There’s nothing like a good deal y’all and this one was the best. I love a good piece of silk, especially tied on a bag. This gorgeous nautical scarf had no snags or stains and has been well worth the price 😉

Dior Saddle Clutch – $60

I started obsessively buying vintage Dior items in the iconic trotter print a couple years ago. One of my fave Youtubers, Mel Soldera, inspired me. I got this little pouch off Poshmark for about $60. I recently saw the same thing listed for $1,300+ by What Goes Around Comes Around on Shopbop. As Dior continues to roll out new items in their classic print,  the price will continue to go up on vintage items. Look at me, making money on my investments. Jokes aside, this is a lovely nineties gem that I typically use as a catchall in larger handbags.

Hermès “La Parade” Scarf – $295

My boyfriend recently gifted me with this vintage scarf after I had surgery. It’s a rare print, only made in 1966. The condition is so lovely, I imagine it neatly folded in the dresser drawer of a fancy grandma, unused. It has such bright, beautiful colors. I really want to frame it and make it the centerpiece of a room one day.

Do you have any amazing consignment finds?! I’d love to hear what they are below!

Best Ballets

Happy Tuesday y’all! Wow, two posts in a row, I’m outdoing myself! Really though, I’m working on being consistent with posts and scheduling, this past week was just a mess. Anyway, today I’m talking about my favorite shoe: the ballet flat. To me, there is no easier shoe. You can throw some flats on with anything and you’ll look polished and put together. That said, not all ballets are created equal. According to one of my favorite books, I Love Your Style by Amanda Brooks (yep, the one in this post), there are several guidelines when buying flats. The most important tip listed is to make sure your flats don’t have too rounded of a toe. This looks tacky, widens the foot, and makes your legs appear stumpy. An almost pointed, egg-shaped toe looks refined and lengthens the legs, who doesn’t want that? Think Chanel. Brooks also recommends the flattest flats, which I happen to love. I know, though, that sometimes comfort wins, so I featured a couple options with a little heel too! Her third tip is making sure the shoe is cut low, without showing too much “toe cleavage.” Click to shop some of my favorite ballets that are the most FLATtering (clever, right?) for your feet and legs!

Beach-y Keen

With temps getting warmer each day, I’m about ready for a beach/pool/lake/body of water day. I’m jealous of my college friends who are already taking advantage of the Texas weather. The most important things to bring are those that will protect you from the sun!  I know I sound like a mom, but there’s nothing worse than a face that looks like an old shoe due to sun damage, so I rely on Chanel UV Essentiel. I use it under my makeup in the summer and it goes on so smooth, moisturizes, and hello, ultimate protection. A big hat and oversized sunglasses are also on the agenda for any sunny day. I like cover-ups that can go from the beach to dinner to drinks, etc.  You never know where the day will take you, so might as well be ready! Add in fun towel, tumbler for various beverages, and a water-friendly sandal…you’re ready for some fun in the sun (am I cliche enough for you?). As for a bag, don’t invest too much money. It’ll get wet or sandy and will most likely be sitting on the ground. A Longchamp Le Pliage is an easy option, or just opt for the classic canvas tote, like this one from Land’s End. What are some of your beach essentials?

Met Gala 2015

Wow! So many gorgeous works of art on the Met Gala red carpet…and I suppose there’s some art inside the Met too. The theme for this year’s exhibit is China: Through the Looking Glass and I’m making it my mission to head to NYC and see it. Sneak a peek of the exhibit here. The Met Gala is referred to as fashion’s biggest night, and that’s no joke, just look at all the smokeshows above. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stunned in Versace, and with a body like that, you would too. Go on girl. Allison Williams should just wear Giambattista Valli wherever she goes, all day everyday. His dresses are so perfect for her and this look is no exception! Once again, Diane Kruger kills in Chanel, but nothing new there. She looks as elegant as anyone in a big ball gown yet rocks the bedazzled pants, she’s perfection. I loved the train on Ivanka Trump’s otherwise simple gown, plus the color is superb. Sienna Miller also forewent a gown in favor of a sexy little Asian-inspired suit. She looks so chic and certainly played the night’s Chinese theme to her advantage. Just when I thought I had my top five looks, I saw Kerry Washington…Show. Stopper. I’m obsessed with this Prada dress, it’s fit for a princess and I can’t get enough. Her bright green heels didn’t hurt either. I seriously loved most of the looks from last night’s event, from the over-the-top (Rihanna), to the “naked” (Kim, JLo, and Beyonce). I can appreciate the costume appeal of the Met Gala, it’s really a time to go all out. That said…Solange Knowles was a little too out of the box for me. What did y’all think? Who was on your best dressed list?

Maybe she’s born with it…

…or maybe not! Welcome back ya’ll, I hope everyone is having a great week!  Today, I’m talking beauty. I definitely don’t claim to be a make-up expert, but these are my favorite, go-to products.  I LOVE Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, which, if you have dry skin, you should run out and buy right this minute. It’s moisturizing, SPF 15, and leaves a dewy, natural finish (If you tend to have more oily skin, try Lumiere Velvet). I put it on with this amazing MAC brush, which is second only to literal airbrushing. Under my eyes, I use Chanel Eclat Lumiere Face Pen, which brightens up dark circles. For bronzer, I use the littlest bit of Chanel Les Beiges, I find it adds a subtle, sunkissed glow. I recently purchased the Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit and I’m obsessed. Having fair skin, it’s really easy to look orange, but this palette is more beige, so the contour looks natural. It also comes with an angled brush which is a welcome bonus. As for eyes, Origins Eye Doctor is the best eye cream. It prevents wrinkles and de-puffs – can’t hate that!  This Chanel eyeliner is absolute perfection. It’s waterproof and truly stays on all day long. I use the color “ambre dore” which is a copper shade, ideal for my fellow blue-eyed girls. Try it on your lower waterline! On my lashes, I swear by Benefit’s They’re Real! After many trials and tribulations, this mascara is the closest thing you’ll find to false lashes. For brows, I love the Dior Powder Brow pencil. It’s very build-able, so I don’t have to worry about having Sharpie brows. Lastly, my all time favorite scent is Bvlgari Omnia Coral.  It has fruity and floral notes, but isn’t too heavy – perfect for everyday. Of course, I use a whole host of other lotions and potions, but these stand out from all the rest. I hope you have the chance to try some of these products!

Saturday Sales

Another nautical Americana selection, what can I say, I like what I like. All of these little treats are on great sales right now, like see those earrings? They’re $10. The vintage Chanel cuff, however, is not as reasonably priced. I plan on buying the sweater a couple sizes up and pairing it with white jeans and loafers for an easy weekend look. Same goes for the Ciao Bella top. The Chloe shoes are a dream so one of you should buy them so I can live vicariously through your closet. The phone case is a given, because I just can’t seem to stay away from stripes. As for the shirtdress, one can never have too much white and navy! Have a great Saturday everyone! Happy shopping.

Pucker Up

photoRouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour #426 Roussy – $36

Have you tried Chanel’s new lipstick line? I’m hooked. The Rouge Coco collection boasts a hydrating formula which means it goes on smooth and doesn’t dry out. Think of it as a really chic Chapstick. There are 29 punchy colors, all named for Coco Chanel’s friends, family, and lovers – ooh lala. My favorite color is Roussy, a bright pinky-coral that is sure to add the perfect pop of color to spring’s black and white trend. Click the image to shop!

Happy Saturday ya’ll! Thanks for reading!
