Saturday Sales

Hi everyone, welcome back to some great #SaturdaySales. First, I have to talk about this Vineyard Vines maxi dress, which fits in perfectly with this post. Score it for 25% off along with everything else VV, thanks to their Friends & Family sale! Now is also a good time to stock up on t-shirts (college forever). This RAILS LA button down is seasonless and SUCH a great deal right now. You can wear it on chillier nights with white jeans and it can carry you through fall as well. Speaking of white jeans, I’m obsessed with this pair from J.Crew. They fit comfortably and wash SO well. Everyone needs some white denim in their life. These are 25% off and so is this amazing bangle. I’m really into anything marble right now, from entire kitchens to accessories. Don’t forget to check out J.Crew’s regular sale section, too! It’s an extra 50% off. Who doesn’t love a cheeky phone case? I’ve been eyeing this Kate Spade case for a while and just might snap it up due to this deal at Bloomie’s. I’m loving these simple heart earrings from Shopbop, really sweet and easy for everyday wear. Lastly, this coral MBMJ wallet is a great little summer buy. Plus, you can subtly capitalize on the perforated trend. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and happy graduation to so many! Tomorrow, I’ll have a post up on the best grad gifts.

Scarf Prints

I’ve been seeing a lot of “scarf prints” lately and I’m pretty excited about it. I love these classic patterns and how they’ve been reinvented with on-trend colors, ripe for summer. The scarf print is super easy to implement in your own wardrobe, even if you just use – you guessed it – a scarf. Yesterday, The Zoe Report featured a slide show on five easy ways to add a scarf to your look. My personal favorite is tying one on your handbag, a la style icon Babe Paley. I’m hoping to pick up a few items with this print and also utilize all the silk scarves I never really knew what to do with!

Product Review: Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion

Photo 2

I have really dry skin, so I was pretty jazzed when I saw commercials for Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion. I seriously loathe the feeling of regular body lotion, it feels so weird. For this reason, I kind of expected a miracle product, so maybe I set myself up for a bit of disappointment. After using it for several weeks, my skin is still quite dry from the long Wisconsin winter. I thought this product would be the key to never slathering on lotion again, but to see real improvement in my skin, I’ll probably need to. On the bright side, it smells really fresh! I’m going to keep using it, along with regular lotion, so hopefully that’ll do the trick. Has anyone else tried this product? Part of me hopes I’ve just somehow been using it wrong, so I’d love to hear your opinions!
Hope y’all have a great Wednesday!

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great weekend and a nice Mother’s Day too! My mom and I celebrated with monkey bread from the Willy Street Co-Op, which is the greatest thing to ever happen to anyone, seriously. Madison readers, go get you some. This week’s wishlist doesn’t have a particular theme because I literally just want everything these days, it’s so bad. I basically “need” a new summer wardrobe, so here’s just a few things I’m currently coveting!

Saturday Sales

Happy weekend! Here’s this week’s edition of Saturday Sales! Of course, everything here is reduced in price, but J.Crew and Anthropologie have the best deals this weekend. J.Crew is offering 30% off spring sale styles, like the tie-dye linen top above. Anthro is giving 20% off EVERYTHING for Mother’s Day! That’s where you can score the stone earrings. Also, find those wedges for 40% off at Nordstrom, sizes are limited, however, so the picture is linked to Shopbop, where they’re 30% off. I hope y’all are having a nice little Saturday so far, and have a great Mother’s Day tomorrow!

Beach-y Keen

With temps getting warmer each day, I’m about ready for a beach/pool/lake/body of water day. I’m jealous of my college friends who are already taking advantage of the Texas weather. The most important things to bring are those that will protect you from the sun!  I know I sound like a mom, but there’s nothing worse than a face that looks like an old shoe due to sun damage, so I rely on Chanel UV Essentiel. I use it under my makeup in the summer and it goes on so smooth, moisturizes, and hello, ultimate protection. A big hat and oversized sunglasses are also on the agenda for any sunny day. I like cover-ups that can go from the beach to dinner to drinks, etc.  You never know where the day will take you, so might as well be ready! Add in fun towel, tumbler for various beverages, and a water-friendly sandal…you’re ready for some fun in the sun (am I cliche enough for you?). As for a bag, don’t invest too much money. It’ll get wet or sandy and will most likely be sitting on the ground. A Longchamp Le Pliage is an easy option, or just opt for the classic canvas tote, like this one from Land’s End. What are some of your beach essentials?

That's a Novel Idea…

If you want to partake in the “novelty” trend – without looking like a Miley Cyrus Instagram – the best way is with accessories. They’re less of a commitment than a full on biker Barbie outfit, a la Moschino, and add a cheeky statement to your look. Fun accessories like these can be incorporated into any wardrobe, so don’t be afraid to add some sass to your style!

DYLANLEX

From Kendall Jenner to Lady Gaga, DYLANLEX is everywhere these days. I think of this line as a mix between estate jewels and rock n’ roll. Known for big, layered, silver necklaces, DYLANLEX also has a variety of other bits and baubles. I love this ring, it’s described as a tiara for your finger, so right up my alley. Typically, I wear gold jewelry and can be a little more reserved, but this necklace has me wanting to step out of my comfort zone. I like that it strays from the typical “statement” necklace in that it lacks the big, bright stones. It’s a nice change of pace. The above piece might seem a bit overwhelming, but picture it over a white t-shirt paired with some distressed denim. Just like that, you’ve gone from day to night. A necklace like this can really take a simple outfit to the next level.

Met Gala 2015

Wow! So many gorgeous works of art on the Met Gala red carpet…and I suppose there’s some art inside the Met too. The theme for this year’s exhibit is China: Through the Looking Glass and I’m making it my mission to head to NYC and see it. Sneak a peek of the exhibit here. The Met Gala is referred to as fashion’s biggest night, and that’s no joke, just look at all the smokeshows above. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stunned in Versace, and with a body like that, you would too. Go on girl. Allison Williams should just wear Giambattista Valli wherever she goes, all day everyday. His dresses are so perfect for her and this look is no exception! Once again, Diane Kruger kills in Chanel, but nothing new there. She looks as elegant as anyone in a big ball gown yet rocks the bedazzled pants, she’s perfection. I loved the train on Ivanka Trump’s otherwise simple gown, plus the color is superb. Sienna Miller also forewent a gown in favor of a sexy little Asian-inspired suit. She looks so chic and certainly played the night’s Chinese theme to her advantage. Just when I thought I had my top five looks, I saw Kerry Washington…Show. Stopper. I’m obsessed with this Prada dress, it’s fit for a princess and I can’t get enough. Her bright green heels didn’t hurt either. I seriously loved most of the looks from last night’s event, from the over-the-top (Rihanna), to the “naked” (Kim, JLo, and Beyonce). I can appreciate the costume appeal of the Met Gala, it’s really a time to go all out. That said…Solange Knowles was a little too out of the box for me. What did y’all think? Who was on your best dressed list?

Weekly Wishlist: FIESTAWEAR

With Cinco de Mayo tomorrow, I’m in the mood for summer styles in bright, fun colors. Some of my favorite college memories revolve around margaritas being consumed in excess to celebrate the holiday, so I thought I’d share a little selection of fiesta-friendly garb! This will be the first year I won’t be in Texas sketching around town with my friends, but hopefully Madison can still show me a good time. Don’t forget about the Met Gala tonight y’all, I’ll have a run-down of my favorite looks bright and early.
