THE BEST GINGHAM SHIRT EVER

Isn’t that a riveting title? This is important stuff. Seriously though, this J.Crew Factory gingham has been such a staple top for me all summer and will continue to be well on into fall. It’s very light without being sheer and hangs just perfectly. Sometimes I feel too “buttoned up” in button down shirts (imagine that!), but the collar/placket falls just so on this shirt. Think that disheveled chic look. I’ve been pairing mine with easy drawstring shorts (try these) and my fave Joie sandals. It’s also perfect to throw on over your suit at the pool! A gingham button down is such a great basic for everyone, and this one is a great deal too. It’s only $44.50 but y’all know Factory always has sales, so you’ll probably be able to pick it up for even less.

SILVER SERVICE

As I’m sure you’ve seen, boho with a side of 70s is back with a vengeance. Along with these trends comes silver jewelry (shoes too!) and I’m actually pretty excited! There’s something so effortlessly chic about silver and I’m also all about the turquoise that goes with it. I think of John Hardy/David Yurman ads where the model is laid out on a beach or tousled bed with bangles up to her elbows – the ultimate in casual elegance. Channel that look in your everyday life with bracelets, rings, and earrings like those above. I love it piled on thick, especially for summer, with shirtdresses or even just a bikini. I hope y’all have had a great Tuesday and thanks for stopping by!

PRODUCT REVIEW: CHANEL LE BLANC

IMG_1630-1

I got caught at the Chanel counter again y’all, but I’m so glad I did! With it being summer, I have some redness here and there, and aside from that, I wanted my make-up to have a smoother finish. A new primer was in order. Enter Chanel Le Blanc. I picked up this little miracle last week and it’s already a game changer. After moisturizing, I dot it around my face and then apply foundation like usual. Pores appear blurred out and all imperfections are instantly camouflaged! It gives a lasting dewy glow, which everyone is constantly in search of these days. This product also extends the wear of foundation, making my face appear fresh all day long. An added bonus is the SPF 30 and lightweight formula, making this primer ripe for warm weather! If you’re in the market for a skin brightening/perfecting primer, I’ve got your recommendation.

PS: The candle pictured is the single best thing I’ve ever smelled. It came in a set during the Nordstrom sale but is available by itself too!

OFF TO THE LACES

When I think of something “lacing up” images of corsets and those awful jeans from Limited Too circa 2001 that laced up the front instead of having a normal button/zip fly. I pray y’all know what I’m referring to because I’m literally laughing to myself as I type this. Basically, anything with crisscross ties has been trashy for years, but go ahead and toss those images out the window and prepare to lace up your wardrobe. We’ve all seen these amazing Aquazzura flats for a while now (I literally dream about them), but this trend can definitely be applied to more than just shoes, as evidenced above! Elizabeth and James does it best, with both dresses in the top right. Whether you want to be super sexy in the black dress that channels Balmain, or a little more reserved in the burgundy, with the subtle laced detail at the waist, this trend can work so many different ways. I love that it adds an edge to any outfit and can fit in with any style!

So I’m clearly in a very Fall mood these days. Sweaters, coats, and comfy tees for layering are definitely all on my radar right now. I’ve mostly been “window shopping” or I’ll fill my shopping bag online and then just leave it after realizing the total is into the thousands. I did, however, purchase a couple things from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I linked them in the little widget below if you’re curious. The red Tory flats above are included in the sale as well, so if you’re in the market, go grab these (they come in black and gold, too!). I hope everyone’s week is starting on a high note! Check back here tomorrow!

FUTURE'S SO BRIGHT

FullSizeRender

Gotta wear shades. Three types in particular: black, tort, and an aviator. Granted, I’d love a whole truckload of sunglasses, but regardless, I think it’s important to have at least one pair in each category! As with all eyewear, it’s crucial to find a size/shape that fits your face. I always see these petite lil ladies channeling the Olsen twins in GIANT sunglasses, practically falling off their faces! I’m all for a huge pair of sunnies, like hello, none of these pictured are exactly small, but y’all know what I mean. Definitely take the time to play around, and find the right pair for your face – bigger isn’t always better in the sunglasses department. Sunglass Hut has a nice little guide here!
Black: I recently purchased these perfect incognito Dolce & Gabbana shades. Typically, cat-eye sunglasses irritate me, it’s just too much of a trendy novelty. This pair, however, has just the slightest tinge of a cat-eye, plus the jet black frame and dark gradient lenses make them super serious – anything but a novelty. I throw these on for the days when I don’t have make-up on and would rather die than run into someone I know (daily). That said, they look equally appropriate with a more formal, dressed up look.
Aviator: I’ve definitely talked about Ray-Bans before because let’s face it: they’re the ultimate sunglasses. My grandpa always wore the classic gold frames/green lenses and no one will ever look as cool as he did – though I definitely try. This just goes to show everyone can wear aviators, from me to my papa, and everyone else! I have this classic pair, but I’m also really warming up to the bright mirrored lenses that have been everywhere for the last few seasons. I love how an aviator sits up off your face, making them perfect for summer when your make-up is melting off half the time. Just me? Oh. These are the sunglasses I keep in my bag at all times, and they always look appropriate.
Tort: I love this pair from Tory Burch. They definitely fall into that cliche “Jackie O” category but I’m into it. Tortoiseshell just adds a little something to any outfit, and again, goes with everything. I think that might be the theme of this post, versatility. Anyway, I think the tortoiseshell is a little softer of a look than the black, for those days when you aren’t necessarily hiding from anyone 😉
If you’re looking to start or expand your sunglasses wardrobe, take a little inventory to see if you have all your bases covered! With a respective pair (or pairs!) in each category, you’ll be ready for anything! Check out the little widget below for some more of my faves (pssst one pair is just $12)!

CHEEKY TEES

I’m not typically one for the “graphic tee.” It takes me back to a time of tissue-thin Hollister/Abercrombie shirts emblazoned with sayings like “Life is Better Blonde” and some things are just better left in the past. I can, however, get on board with these fun tees/tanks from MILLY. Designed in collaboration with famed SoulCycle guru Stacey Griffith, the shirts sport fun, sassy sayings. A great piece for hot summer days with denim shorts, and on into fall layered under a chambray (or styled similarly to above, for the ultimate cool-girl look!). The simple sans-serif font and clean lines make these shirts anything but obnoxious like the printed t-shirts of our youth. Weekly Wishlist: #NSale

Long time no see, ya’ll! I took a week or so off after July 4th to just kind of enjoy summer a bit. I’ve been frolicking around Madison, shopping, and working this past week, but I’m back with some fun things planned for the next few days. First up is the Weekly Wishlist, Nordstrom Anniversary Sale edition! Everyone touts this sale as the best of the year and that’s no joke, plus it’s prime time to stock up on fall essentials (jeans, boots, coats). The sale is open only to cardholders until the 16th, but I would definitely recommend applying for a card if you don’t already have one. You can even be a peasant, like me, and get a Nordstrom debit card. Apply here. Anyway, here are my sale picks! It’s seriously all I can do not to snap up all of this stuff right now, but I think my bank account would audibly cry out in pain…whoops. Happy shopping!

Time to haul out the red, white, & blue y’all! I’ve personally been celebrating for a couple days now, because as you probably could gather from other things I’ve featured on the blog, I LOVE the Fourth of July. I seriously get so fired up for America, and can’t wait for this weekend’s festivities! Here’s a little inspiration for your Independence Day style. I’ll personally be wearing these American flag shorts from Krass and Co! I hope everyone has a great weekend, try not to blow a hand off with a firework!

Hi! Here’s what’s on my wishlist this week, you know the drill. While most of this stuff has to go on the back burner (aka I’ll just dream of it for a while and then concede working retail doesn’t pay for Chloe bags…), the wallet and Chelsea boots are more realistic/practical. I’ve been in the market for a simple yet interesting wallet. I like that this one from Marc by Marc Jacobs almost has a clutch-like appeal, setting it apart from the basic zip-around continental wallet I’ve been schlepping around. As of late, I’ve also been in the market for some black flat booties. Sure, it’s barely summer, but you could say I’m pregaming for fall. What have y’all been eyeing lately? Stop back here tomorrow for some July Fourth inspiration!
