WORKIN' ON THE RAILROAD…SPIKE RING

Hi y’all, happy Thursday! I’ve been super under the weather this week, but online shopping has been healing me, I swear. This little railroad spike ring, from Shopbop, arrived on my doorstep a few days ago and I’m in love. My grandpa used to have a gold railroad spike paper weight on his desk, so this ring reminds me of him in the sweetest way. I also love the simplistic design. I don’t wear rings too often, but when I do, I gravitate towards simpler pieces (I sound like the Dos Equis man, definitely not as interesting). Giles and Brother makes clean-lined and classic, “punk prep” jewelry. They use industrial notes, like railroad spikes, screws, nails, etc. It sounds hardcore, but look at that little thing! So delicate and pretty. Plus, it’s on sale with an extra 25% off, today only! Shopbop has a couple sales a year and they’re always the time to treat yourself and/or stock up. I linked some of my G&B and sale faves in the widget below, happy shopping!

Happy Monday! Here’s some of the things I’m currently coveting. I really need a new wallet, and this little Saint Laurent number is basically calling my name. I’m also mulling over getting this wallet, as it’s a little more realistic price-wise, like…$500 more realistic.

Sunday Sales?

Click to Shop!

So it may not be the usual Saturday Sales, but work with me here. Not too late to take advantage of some great weekend deals. Bloomingdales is having the “Extra Haute June Sale” (lol), which takes up to 25% off tons of designer faves and wardrobe basics. That’s where I found this citrus-hued Longchamp. We all have these handy nylon totes dating back to high school, but if you’re in the market for a new gym/beach/everyday bag, this one is such a fun pick. If you prefer the classic Le Pliage, don’t fret, several colors are on sale too. Jack Rogers are another wardrobe staple for me, they’re some of the best sandals I own. They’re a great basic to throw on with anything, and once worn in, actually pretty comfortable. Plus, this sunny pair is less than $80, so treat yoself. Now, I can’t really call culottes a wardrobe staple. I rarely like this look, but Alice & Olivia does it right. The look is less stubby pants and more chic midi skirt, so I’m into it. This pair is still nearly $300 everywhere else, but Nordstrom has them for $175…so if you’re in the market, there ya go. Be sure to check out all my other weekend sale picks, as always, click to shop. I hope y’all are having a relaxing Sunday!

PS: It’s Father’s Day, hello! Hopefully you’ve had the chance to spend some time with your dad today and if not, send them some love…or send them something from my Father’s Day Gift Guide 😉

Hi! I hope everyone is surviving Monday! Lately, I’ve been in a really spend-y mood and I’ve been online shopping a little (a lot). Most recently, I purchased this basic black cross body, and finally: a Tory for Fitbit wrap bracelet. Add my Chicago weekend to the tab and yeah, I need to stop spending. I’m trying to keep my wishlist light, but here’s a few things that have caught my eye this past week!

Gift Guide: Father's Day

Click to Shop!

Father’s Day is June 21st, so I thought I’d round up some gift ideas. Dads (actually just men in general) can be so hard to shop for. They already have everything, or you gifted it to them last year. Golf balls, ties, or in my dad’s case, socks. Extravagant, right? They’ve seen it all before, and will be just as happy to receive it again this year, but why not spice it up a bit?!

Best Ballets

Happy Tuesday y’all! Wow, two posts in a row, I’m outdoing myself! Really though, I’m working on being consistent with posts and scheduling, this past week was just a mess. Anyway, today I’m talking about my favorite shoe: the ballet flat. To me, there is no easier shoe. You can throw some flats on with anything and you’ll look polished and put together. That said, not all ballets are created equal. According to one of my favorite books, I Love Your Style by Amanda Brooks (yep, the one in this post), there are several guidelines when buying flats. The most important tip listed is to make sure your flats don’t have too rounded of a toe. This looks tacky, widens the foot, and makes your legs appear stumpy. An almost pointed, egg-shaped toe looks refined and lengthens the legs, who doesn’t want that? Think Chanel. Brooks also recommends the flattest flats, which I happen to love. I know, though, that sometimes comfort wins, so I featured a couple options with a little heel too! Her third tip is making sure the shoe is cut low, without showing too much “toe cleavage.” Click to shop some of my favorite ballets that are the most FLATtering (clever, right?) for your feet and legs!

Happy Monday! Right now, the main thing I want (need!) is a pair of jean shorts. I don’t know if any of y’all have had a similar quest for an acceptable pair of jorts, but it’s near impossible! They’re either Bermudas fit for church camp, or like seriously trailer-park-short. Part of the problem is that I have this idyllic picture of the perfect shorts in my head, and I’m beginning to think they just don’t exist. Several other bloggers have recommended One Teaspoon for denim cut-offs and I think I’m going to give the above pair a spin! If any of y’all have suggestions on the subject, let me know! Be sure to check out all the other goodies on this little list, because several things are on sale. As you can tell, I’m trying to amp up my summer wardrobe, and everything here would be right at home. Plus, the camera is for documenting it all. I hope your Monday is going well so far, and if not, even more reason to shop.

Saturday Sales

Click to Shop!

Happy Saturday! I’ve got a fun little sale round up for y’all today! First, let me talk about this romper…is it too Mob Wives? I love cheetah/leopard prints, but sometimes they can be a bit much. I think this could be a fun going out piece, but leave behind lots of accessories and opt for simpler make-up to avoid looking like Big Ang. Both shoes featured are amazing deals and are two staples to have in your closet. Now through Sunday, CUSP is offering $50 off a purchase of $200 or more! Now’s the time to buy those pieces that rarely go on sale, like Equipment floral blouses. I love this one because it reminds me of all the Yumi Kim florals that are everywhere. So cute for summer. This weekend Anthro is offering 20% off tops and shorts and I’m thinking of picking up this easy striped tunic. It’s such a good top to just throw on when you’re in a pinch. As for the jewels featured, they’re from J.Crew and are 30% off (plus free shipping!). Happy shopping y’all, I’ll be back here tomorrow talking about my favorite shoes.

Life Recap

Hellooooo! Sorry I’ve been such a flake these days! This past week has been a whirlwind and I’m just now catching up on life! A few days out on the town and your body starts to hate you, I swear. I spent the weekend in Chicago with my best friend, Gabby (aka the brilliant person who named this blog), and our boyfriends! It had been a year since I’d seen her, so it was a much needed reunion. We basically just sketched around town for a couple days and it was the best. On Saturday night, we took in game 7 and celebrated the Blackhawks’ win. Y’all probably could have guessed I’m not the sportiest gal but I got pretty fired up along with everyone else in the Windy City that night! I forget how close/easy of a trip Chicago is for us Madisonians, and I definitely want to spend a few more weekends there this summer. I surprised myself this weekend and didn’t shop too much, which I’m sure came as a relief to my poor bank account. I did, however, pick up this little number on the last day of the Nordstrom sale! I’d loved this BaubleBar gold tassel strand online, so when I saw it in person, I knew it was meant to be. It’s a really fun piece for summer and is a nice deviation from the typical single tassel necklaces we’ve been seeing. It’ll also be a great necklace for layering, if I feel so bold haha. Unfortunately, I can’t find it online (and on sale) at Nordstrom, but it’s still available on the BaubleBar website, so click the picture if you’re interested! It also has a sweet little matching bracelet which might need to be mine as well. I hope y’all are having a happy hump-day!

PS: The coffee table book pictured is one of my faves. It’s not only great for inspiration but also really helped me outline my style. Get it here.
